The Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association (“OPFFA”) was established in 1920 and is an association run by and for the membership. We are governed by the rules established by the membership in our Constitution. Our Executive Board consists of a President, Secretary-Treasurer, and five Zone Directors. The OPFFA is the representative voice for more than 12,000 professional full-time firefighters in over 80 cities, towns, and regions, servicing over 85% of Ontario's population. OUR VISION is that OPFFA shall be the unified voice and driving force for Ontario’s fire service professionals. OUR MISSION is to provide leadership and support that improves the work and lives of Ontario’s fire service professionals. Today’s professional firefighter does more than just fight fires. Professional firefighters are available 24/7, 365 days a year to respond quickly to serious medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials calls, industrial accidents, ice/water, and other technical rescues. The OPFFA works collaboratively with the provincial government, key stakeholders, and other organizations to improve working conditions and safety, for our members, which ultimately benefits the communities they serve.
