Men and women first responders and Ontario’s fire fighters are exposed to trauma through the course of their work every day. From time to time these traumatic exposures have a lasting impact that injure our members,
necessitating care and treatment just like any other injury.
The OPFFA is working to improve mental health prevention plans, treatment options, treatment availability and return to work after injuries. We know that by providing these, recovery from injury is improved. One key focus is our plan to encourage availability of education to treatment professionals, so they understand the fire culture, thinking and way-of-life.
At the OPFFA we commit to making sure mental health and wellness is foremost and that we work to prevent and reduce all injuries whether physical or mental.
