We offer PPE which offer alternatives to PFAS that have been independently studied and deemed non-toxic.
Cancer continues to be the leading cause of death among firefighters. Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been linked to cancer and other illnesses, and are commonly used in the manufacture of firefighter personal protective equipment (PPE). For this reason, at the 24th Annual Convention held in June 2021, the OPFFA membership voted in favour of no longer accepting sponsorship from the chemical industry, textile manufacturers, or PPE manufacturers who use toxic chemicals in PPE without offering alternatives which have been independently studied and deemed non-toxic.
All potential sponsors are subject to OPFFA Board approval.
